Welcome Back Letter for Parents/Students 2008-2009.  

Dear Carolina International Families,

Welcome new and returning students to Carolina International School for the academic year of 2008-2009. Our students are nearly acclimated to new schedules, surroundings and instruction. All members of CIS look forward to what promises to be a fabulous year ahead for academic studies, and CIS school year events. It is important to us to keep you abreast by providing information that may serve to familiarize yourselves with CIS events, policy and procedures.

LUNCHES:

Students are to bring bag lunches each day to school. Students in grades 3 – 10 will eat in the new CIS cafeteria. In the cafeteria there are vending machines with healthy snacks and drinks that students may purchase during lunch time.

UNIFORMS:

Please see our website for detailed information regarding ordering your child(ren)’s daily uniform, dress uniform, and P.E. uniform. Any questions regarding uniforms can be answered by Denise Schwartz at 704-455-3847 extension 5530.

Uniform for Special Occasions
Each student must have one formal or dress uniform for special occasions or performances. This uniform will consist of the following:

• GIRLS
  White polo long/short sleeve
  (with school logo on left lapel)
  *Navy traditional skirt/shorts/skorts/pants
• BOYS
  White polo long/short sleeve
  (with school logo on left lapel)
  *Navy pants/shorts, flat/front pleat

Currently dress uniform shirts are purchased through the school on the same order form as the PE uniform. (Download order form)

Daily Uniform (Non-PE Days – 3 days per week)
Each student has a choice of the following for daily wear:

GIRLS
Polo shirt (long or short sleeve)
Peter Pan blouse (long or short sleeve)
Turtlenecks
Colors: White, Navy or True Red

Traditional Flat Skort
Traditional Jumper
Traditional Pants or Capris*
Traditional Shorts
Traditional Skirts
Colors: Navy, Khaki or Plaid

BOYS
Polo shirt (long or short sleeve)
Turtlenecks
Colors: White, Navy or True Red

Traditional Pants or Cargo Pants*
Traditional Shorts
Colors: Navy or Khaki

Physical Education Uniform (2-5 days per week)
All P.E. shorts and sweatpants must be official CIS Comets clothing purchased through the school. These items are currently available through the school office. The order form is available on our school’s website under “Parent Information” under “Athletic Service Team”. The PE uniforms will have the Comets logo on both the shirt and the shorts/sweatpants.  Students are required to wear the Comets t-shirt and Comets shorts or sweatpants for P.E. days. For safety reasons, all students are required to wear sneakers on P.E. days.

You will receive additional information at Open House. We are very excited about the 2007-2008 school year. We look forward to seeing you during our Open Houses and look forward to the opportunity to work with each of you in a productive and positive relationship. It is amazing how much a student can learn in a school year when we work as a team to provide the best education possible.
