President’s message to CIS community!

As President of Student Council, “What I plan to do is deeper than just dances, new equipment, or other necessities. Those things will not be disregarded, but all the things I strive to do will lead to a bigger picture, deeper than just the amenities or events.

I think it’s time to put CIS and our students on the map. I have personally seen this school arise from the dust, every year overcoming struggle after struggle. Most of the students do not know our legacy, one if the main reasons for respect! I am going to tell you now, no matter how good of a president I am, regardless of what I might do, what we need to make this school really stand out is you and what you have to offer.

My job and purpose of being the president is to show you all opportunities of where you all can gain the spotlight in your areas of talent. Some of you are sports players, some artists, some musicians, some thinkers and mathematicians. Whatever your particular interest is, this school can help bring you out into the light.

But the first step of gaining respect is giving honor to those above, beneath and all around you. If you do not respect the school, no one else will. Nobody will know we exist, and if we talk bad about the school, others will too. When people hear the name CIS, let’s give them something positive to think about.

My objective for becoming president is to help you all shine. If you all shine in your areas, if the sports players win games, if the artists draw drawings and win contests, if the writers publish books and poems, soon, we all will be known, and the school will also gain from it.

Wither way it is a win-win situation. I will give you all opportunities, find things to enter, plan fun things in this school to help us relax and enjoy ourselves. I hope to make this school memorable in positive ways. From the dances, to the parties, to the contests, to the awards, I plan to bring this school, along with you, into the spotlight!

Everyone deserves a chance in the spotlight, and a right to enjoy themselves while learning and while relaxing. That is my goal and my privilege as president of student council, a chance to succeed and a chance to enjoy this school that we are now attending! Jonathan

 

CIS Student Council

The Student Council is a group of officers, classroom representatives, committees, and advisors who work together to promote school spirit, make important team decision, and provide special events and projects for the school community and interest of students.

This year the Student Council has a number of objectives that center on the core values of CIS: Respect, Responsibility, Solutions and Service. Several committees have been formed with the intent of achieving our goals for the year.

Committees that have been formed are: Committee for Peer Tutoring, Committee for Announcements, Assistance Committee that will raise money for International Charities, Ambassadorial Committee in charge of arranging student guides for Open House and International visitors, an Assembly Committee that will support weekly assemblies and create some of them, as well.

The Student Council also has an Activity Committee that is in charge of creating, organizing and sponsoring student activities.
