Chinese Delegation to Share Local Customs with
Carolina International School
HARRISBURG, N.C. — A delegation of 16 high school students and faculty from Tianli International School in the southwest province of Sichuan, China, will visit Carolina International School (CIS) on Thursday, February 2 to share their cultural traditions with CIS students and staff. Tianli International School is a sister school to Cannon School in Concord, N.C., which is sponsoring their visit.
The group will visit CIS from 9–11 a.m. on February 2. After singing songs and performing dances at an assembly for the entire school, the students and their teachers will visit classes in second, seventh and eighth grade and answer questions about their native country. Students in CIS’ second grade, whose sister city is Baoding, China, have been learning about Chinese culture as part of their curriculum.
“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to visit with these representatives of the Tianli International School and appreciate their willingness to share their cultural traditions with us, especially the week after the Chinese New Year,” said CIS Director Dr. Richard Beall.
Tianli International School, which serves students in grades 10-12, is one of the first private schools in China. A little over three years old, the school has a student body of 3,000 and teaches English as well as Chinese literature, history and math, among other subjects.
