Environmental Educators from Russia to Visit Carolina International School
CIS Environmental Committee Also to Discuss Initiatives with Delegation
HARRISBURG, N.C. - Carolina International School (CIS) will host a delegation of 10 environmental educators from Russia on Thursday, December 8.
The educators’ visit is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State within its Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The goals of the group are to promote youth involvement in environmental protection, develop ecological tourism programs and promote grass-roots level environmental/ecological protection. The visitors will join students at an outdoor assembly at 9 a.m. and then visit each classroom to discuss environmental issues in Russia.
Environmental studies is a core component of CIS’s curriculum. This year, CIS created an Environmental Committee, composed of students, parents and teachers, to develop schoolwide initiatives that promote environmental awareness and stewardship through hands-on activities. The committee will share its plans with the Russian educators during a catered lunch at 11:30 a.m.
