Carolina International School Welcomes Visitors from Vatican City and UNCC

HARRISBURG, N.C. - Coming from the smallest country on the globe—Vatican City—Monsignor Lucio Sembrano visited Carolina International School on September 22.

The monsignor is the Vatican City foreign ministry official for the African Union, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Dijbouti, Kenya, Sudan, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands (Oceania) and Papua-New Guinea. He is also responsible for Vatican City’s presence in international organizations and conferences.

Sembrano spoke to CIS students regarding world issues (global peace making/conflict resolution) and human rights initiatives. He gave interesting details to the children regarding the population, government and daily life within Vatican City.

Other recent visitors included two student athletes from UNC Charlotte. Charlotte 49ers basketball players Curtis Withers and Krystion Obie spoke to students about their past achievements and future goals. The school also welcomed UNCC strength and conditioning coaches Preston Greene and Jim Krumpos.
