Carolina International School Demonstrates True Spirit of Giving
CIS students money to aid hurricane victims
HARRISBURG, N.C. - Carolina International School students and staff have opened their hearts and their wallets to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
CIS seventh graders organized a fund-raiser, called “Change for Change,” to aid those suffering losses from the hurricane. The project, which ends on September 9, encourages CIS students to donate change and collect money from others to help make a change in our country. All of the money collected will be donated to the American Red Cross Hurricane Funds.
CIS third-graders opened their doors and their hearts to a fellow student whose family fled New Orleans to escape the hurricaneand is currently living with relatives in Harrisburg. XXX enrolled in CIS and began attending Ms. XXX third-grade class on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
“Service is one of the core values of our community and it is encouraging to see our students so committed to helping others in need,” says CIS Director Richard Beall.
