Educators from Kazakhstan to Visit Carolina International School
Leaders to Attend Q&A with Parents
HARRISBURG, N.C. - Carolina International School (CIS) will host a delegation of 10 educators from Kazakhstan on Thursday, March 10.
Students will welcome the visitors at an outdoor assembly at 9 a.m., followed by meetings with individual classes to allow the delegates to answer questions about their country and culture. The
three-hour visit will conclude with a meeting with school administrators and parents to respond to any questions from the delegates.
The educators, who will arrive in Charlotte on March 2, are visiting the city for 20 days as part of Community Connections, a collaborative effort between the Kazakh and U.S. governments’ business and civic communities to help Kazakh business, government and education professionals make the transition to a democratic and market-oriented society. International House of Charlotte was selected to participate in the three-week training program after entering a national competition. Funded by the U.S. Department of State within its Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, International House will provide a total immersion into the American educational system to allow the visitors to learn how the system functions. In addition to CIS, the delegates will visit other area schools and universities to meet their professional counterparts.
The majority of educators are principals and assistant principals at public and private schools in Kazakhstan. While in Charlotte, they hope to learn about teaching methods, fundraising efforts, programs for gifted as well as at-risk or disabled children, and extracurricular activities for students, among other areas. The delegates will live with local host families and attend various cultural activities during their visit.
