Local Professional Hockey Players to Visit Carolina International School

Eastern European natives introduce students to their home country

HARRISBURG, N.C. - The sixth grade class at Carolina International School (CIS) will host a visit from Juris Stals and Eddie Pershin, two professional hockey players from the Charlotte Checkers on Monday, November 8 at 2 p.m.

Juris Stals, a native from Latvia, and Eddie Pershin from Russia will entertain questions from the students about their homeland and careers. Russia is the Sister Country to the sixth grade class.

“We are honored to have Juris and Eddie share their cultural and professional experiences with our students. This is another great opportunity to expose our students to international players and to build upon our international focus,” says Scott Morris, physical education teacher and athletic director at CIS.
