Thank you for your interest in the Carolina International School. CIS is a public charter school that opened in Cabarrus County in September 2004. We seek enthusiastic, dedicated educators whose experience and interest best match our school's mission and vision.

Carolina International School began with grades K-7 and added a grade each subsequent year to our current K-10 structure in 2008-2009. Our emphasis is on international education, environmental studies, project-based learning, and individualized curriculum and instruction.

The school seeks TEACHERS who are attracted to our philosophy, commited to students, and share educational practices.

• Elementary, middle, or high school teaching experience (NC certification or reciprocal certification in another state)
• a commitment to international or global education
• experience and/or interest in environmental education
• familiarity with or receptivity to an inquiry approach to learning
• the ability to individualize or differentiate curriculum and instruction
• enthusiasm, energy, creativity, and flexibility
• an abiding love of children

Job description:

Carolina International School is a successful, innovative public charter school located on a 36-acre campus with forest, stream, and wetlands, near Charlotte. CIS features international education and environmental studies, along with best educational practices like project-based learning and differentiated instruction.

This physical education position will include instruction for students from K-10, with two planning periods per day. The curriculum is guided by the NC Standard Course of Study, with flexibility for the creativity and initiative of the teacher. We value physical activity as an integral aspect of holistic education.

Qualifications:

We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic, experienced educators and life-long learners who are eager to share the love of physical activity, fitness, and health. This position requires the ability to adapt curriculum materials, instructional styles, and learning activities to a wide range of student ages. CIS is a developing institution with a good athletic field, but no indoor gymnasium at present. Our physical education teachers have adapted well to the available spaces and have developed a participatory program enjoyed by all our students. You must have NC licensure or the equivalent from a state with reciprocity. CIS employees have the NC state benefit package of health insurance and retirement.
