Enrollment Process for Next Year: Kindergarteners Must Be Enrolled

We are in the middle of our open enrollment period and there has been a great response to CIS. More than 200 applications have been received online, and many parents are attending our Open House sessions. No application is necessary for our current students, but if you want to enroll an upcoming Kindergartener (or other sibling not currently in CIS) you must submit an online application prior to February 5th. Siblings will again be given priority for admission to CIS.

Change a Life: Student Tutors Needed

We are seeking adult volunteers to tutor some of our students on a regular basis. If you can assist, even for just an hour a week, please contact the office at 704-455-3847. Make a difference in a student’s life!

2005-6 School Calendar

The calendar for next year was approved by our Board of Directors last Thursday, with input from teachers and parents. We start school on August 22nd and end on June 8th, with a full two-week winter vacation. Copies were sent in this week’s Tuesday folder. Upcoming Dates

Progress Reports will be sent tomorrow, Wednesday, January 19th. Our next Academic Extravaganza is Saturday, February 5th. We will have more announcements about this event in the next week. On Monday, February 7th, we will host a delegation of students and teachers from the Tianli International School in China.

Inclement weather preparations

Our Student-Parent Handbook (p. 27) lists sources for emergency closing information: TV channels 3 and 6; radio 99.7 and 102.9; telephone (704-455-3847 extension 9); and our web site.

Lunch Order Deadline

The deadline for ordering hot lunches for February is January 24th. No orders are accepted after this date.

Lost and Found

There are many nice jackets, lunch boxes, and school uniform items in the office Lost and Found cabinet. Any unclaimed items will be donated to charities on February 2. Please be sure to write your child’s name in all clothing.

NEW SCHOOL MASCOT LOGO

Thanks to the efforts of parent Jolynn Mata, we have a beautiful new logo featuring our school mascot, the Comets. Soon this will be available on t-shirts and other items. A special thanks to Jolynn for her service to CIS spirit and sports!
