Mystica Nelmes
Mystica brings a high level of energy and enthusiasm to CIS along with strong leadership skills defined by both recent and past accomplishments. Mystica has more than sixteen years of experience in education as an administrator, teacher, and consultant. She has a MA in School Administration and a B.A. in Liberal Arts with minors in Elementary Education, English and Math. Mystica has been an administrator in both elementary and middle school, as well as, taught or coached in every grade level from Pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. Most of her professional career has been serving Charter and local public school districts in North Carolina. Before joining CIS, Mystica served as a Literacy Facilitator and administrator for her last school system and as an educational consultant. Consulting allows her the opportunity to work closely with school districts and teachers to provide professional development services that address numerous academic subjects and educational topics.
Mystica received her Master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the prestigious Principal Fellows Program and graduated with honors. She formerly served on the board for Who's Who Among America's Middle School and High School Students and has received the Who's Who Among America's Teachers and Who's Who Among America's Students in American Universities & Colleges Award.
Donna Harkey
The diversity of Donna's educational background serves to enrich the current and future program of CIS. Donna has 30 years of educational experience as an administrator, teacher and academic therapist. She has a Graduate Certificate in School Administration, a MA in Education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities and a BS in Early Childhood/Special Education. Donna has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels in Cobb County Georgia and Cabarrus County. She has worked to enhance school curriculum as an Administrator, Lead Teacher and Intervention Specialist. She has served as a member of county level initiatives providing leadership, staff development and coordination in a variety of programs including Cooperative Learning, Sheltered Instruction, Senate Bill 44, Research Based Interventions, Mentoring and Professional Learning Communities.
Donna received her Graduate Certification in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with the honor of Summa Cum Laude. She received her Master's degree from Georgia State University graduating with the honor of Magna Cum Laude and her Bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has also received Trainer of Trainer certification in Cooperative Learning from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.
Donna has received several honors relating to education including being named as a two time recipient of the Cabarrus County Chamber of Commerce Impact upon Education Award, and Teacher of the Year while at JN Fries Middle School. She was awarded the prestige of being named as a Teacher on Special Assignment with a grant to develop a program for Marginal Learners at the high school level in Cobb County. She is a member of the Professional Educators of NC, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, North Carolina Schools Attuned and Kappa Delta Pi.
