Facility Location/Directions

The Carolina International School is located on a 36 acre campus with forest and wetlands. Carolina International School is located at 8810 Hickory Ridge Road, Harrisburg. Our campus is less than 5 minutes from I-485 and Rocky River Road Intersection, and about 2 miles south of Harrisburg. This site provides an ideal setting for our environmental science emphasis.
Currently, CIS is housed in modular buildings. Our goal is to construct “high performance” buildings that conserve natural resources through day lighted classrooms, water catchment systems, and other features. Research on day lighted classrooms shows a 15% improvement in academic performance, along with the reduced cost of lighting and cooling. And in the typical school building, 80% of the water is used for flushing toilets. By gathering rainwater in cisterns water can be used for this purpose, reducing both runoff and expenses. We want our building to be as healthy as our students, and to serve as a laboratory of good stewardship of our natural resources.
It is important for us to provide a cost efficient, environmental sensitive environment for our school community.
