Technology

The 21st century is an age of technological innovation which results in schools addressing technology in the context of global markets. CIS conducts teleconferencing for educational and social connection and program partnerships.
All classrooms have state of the art SMART boards and Mimio interactive technology where instructional connection takes place in all subject areas.
CIS is a 1:1 laptop school for Grades 3-10. Every child in grades 3-10 has to either bring their own device (BYOD) or lease a laptop from the school. CIS has a Media Center with computer stations, classroom computers and moveable laptops. Our Technology program centers on several computer applications that include: Microsoft Office, Open Office, Measuring Academic Progress (MAP), StarFall, Orchid for Remediation in Math, online textbooks for Reading, Math, and Science for Grades 3-10, and the use of e-books and Kindles. In addition our Kidspiration and Inspiration programs develop thinking, literacy, numeric skills that enable students easily create and update graphic organizers, concept maps, a number of other skills.
As Computer Sciences continue to develop as a global outreach for learning and communication, CIS will continue to examine and implement programs that provide our students with essential knowledge of Information Science in areas of Digital Graphics, Animation, Video Technology, Multimedia, Desktop publishing and Web Mastering.
We envision CIS serving as a resource center for the international community in and around Cabarrus County that would include sponsorship of cultural celebrations and festivals, offering language and citizenship classes, and service projects with international groups. Collaborators include the International House in Charlotte, the Charlotte Sister Cities Program, the Mayor’s International Cabinet, the NC International Educators Association, UNC-Charlotte’s International Programs office.
