Language acquisition is essential in today's intercontinental education and business exchange. CIS students have scheduled classes in both Spanish and Chinese beginning in Kindergarten through Tenth grade.
The language courses are linked with the CIS curriculum in specific subject areas in order to facilitate the general and specific skills related in the acquisition on a new language. Instructional delivery is based on the ability to speak, write and read the language, explore the rich culture of the country and its people.
Technology
Technology provides endless opportunities to language learners. In the 21st Century it has become an imperative method in assisting students to access more knowledge about cultures and languages.
Smartboards are in use in the language lab and students focus on the following skills: practicing, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and grammar.
Websites such as www.wetpaint.com and voki.com are additional resources students utilize to advance their knowledge of foreign language.
Special project assignments are assigned each academic quarter based on our quarter academic themes and country connections.
