Stewardship
Global stewardship is our overarching principle. It effectively links our international and environmental emphasis and conveys all four of our core values; respect, responsibility, solutions and service. CIS students learn to think and link globally by encouraging actual connections with other cultures; to act locally, by encouraging solutions and service-oriented action; and impact globally, that through many local acts we can impact the globe.
Visitors
CIS was honored by a visit from students and teachers from our partner school in China, Changzhou Foreign Language School, for a week sharing creative, cultural, language technological and instructional best practices and interests.
Administrators from our partner school, St. Anthony’s Primary School in Craigavon, Ireland spent time with us to discuss the PATHS project organized by T4 which involves 13 schools that would link with our school to develop ICT and project based instruction on themes from literacy to ecology and environmental issues.
Biodiversity
Environmental studies are incorporated into the curriculum at Carolina International School. Students explore the streams, woods and wetland on our 36 acre campus and compare these natural resources with those of countries around the world. They develop an awareness of the earth’s diverse eco systems. Each grade is responsible for an aspect of environmental studies aligned with their science curriculum.
